WhatsApp automation for restaurants: table bookings, menu and offers

With Chatzyn, a restaurant can answer table booking enquiries, send its menu and reply to common questions on WhatsApp automatically, then hand the chat to a person when needed. It runs on Meta's official WhatsApp Business Platform, and offers go only to customers who agreed to hear from you.

What a restaurant can automate on WhatsApp

Most restaurant chats are the same few questions: is there a table tonight, can I see the menu, what time do you close, where are you. Chatzyn lets you answer those with a flow you build once in the visual flow builder.

  • Table booking enquiries: a short form inside WhatsApp asks for name, date, time and number of guests, and your team confirms.
  • Menu on request: a customer types a word such as MENU and gets your menu as a photo or a PDF.
  • Common questions: an AI bot answers from the menu, timings and FAQs you upload, and hands over to a person when it cannot.
  • Offers and festival specials: a WhatsApp broadcast to customers who opted in, using a Meta-approved template.
  • Feedback after a visit: a QR code on the table or the bill opens a chat that asks for a rating with tap buttons.

Table booking enquiries through a WhatsApp flow

Start a flow when someone sends a keyword such as BOOK, scans a QR code, or taps a click-to-WhatsApp ad. The flow can send a native WhatsApp form where the customer fills in the date, time, number of guests and any note, and submits once.

The answers are saved on the contact. The same flow can add a row to your Google Sheet, tag the chat as a booking and assign it to the person who handles reservations, so they can check availability and confirm in the shared inbox.

Chatzyn does not keep a table plan or check availability for you. Treat the form as a clean enquiry that reaches the right person, and confirm the booking in your existing register or booking system.

Orders and order updates

Chatzyn does not take online payments for restaurant orders and does not connect to food delivery apps or billing software. If customers order on WhatsApp, your team takes the order in the chat and records it in your existing system.

While the customer's 24-hour chat window is open, your team can reply with updates such as "your order is being packed" as normal text. After the window closes, an update needs an approved utility template, sent from the inbox.

If you sell through a WooCommerce or Shopify store, those orders arrive in Chatzyn, and a WooCommerce store can send each new order a WhatsApp confirmation from your approved template.

Offers to customers who opted in

Weekend specials, new menu launches and festival offers go out as a WhatsApp broadcast to a segment, for example everyone tagged as a regular. You can send now or schedule it, and see delivery, read and reply for each person.

Broadcasts use Marketing templates that Meta approves first, and they should go only to customers who agreed to receive offers from you. A customer who replies STOP is opted out on every sending path. Never buy numbers or message people who have not contacted you.

Meta charges per delivered template message. In India from 1 October 2026 that is about ₹0.86 for a marketing message and about ₹0.12 for a utility message. Replies inside an open chat window are service messages, and each business number gets 1,000 free service messages a month.

Meta rates checked 29 Oct 2026. See the WhatsApp API pricing page for the full table.

Collecting feedback and reviews

Print a tracked QR code on the table card or the bill. When a guest scans it, a flow asks them to rate their visit with tap buttons. A good rating can get a link button to your review page; a low rating can go straight to the manager in the inbox so you can fix it before it becomes a public review.

Each tracked QR code reports which entry point brought the customer, so you can see which table card or poster works.

How to set it up

  • Connect your restaurant's WhatsApp number in Settings, Channels. Where Meta offers Coexistence, you can keep using the WhatsApp Business app on the same number.
  • Build a booking flow in Flows, or start from a ready-made flow such as the first-message greeting.
  • Upload your menu and FAQs to the AI bot's knowledge.
  • Create a tracked link or QR code for your table cards and posters.
  • Get a marketing template approved before your first offer broadcast.

Questions people ask

Can a restaurant take table bookings on WhatsApp automatically?

Chatzyn can collect the booking details automatically with an in-chat WhatsApp form and pass them to your team, a Google Sheet or both. It does not manage table availability, so a person confirms the booking.

How do I send my restaurant menu on WhatsApp automatically?

Build a keyword flow: when a customer sends a word such as MENU, the flow replies with your menu as a photo or PDF. You can also put a QR code on your posters that opens the chat.

Can customers order food and pay through Chatzyn on WhatsApp?

Not as a built-in ordering and payment system. Your team can take orders in the chat and record them in your existing billing or delivery system.

Can I send offers to all my customers on WhatsApp?

Only to customers who agreed to receive them. Offers go as a broadcast using a Meta-approved marketing template, and anyone who replies STOP is removed from future sends.

How much does WhatsApp marketing cost for a restaurant in India?

Meta charges about ₹0.86 per delivered marketing message in India from 1 October 2026, on top of your Chatzyn plan. Replies inside an open chat are service messages, with 1,000 free per number each month. See Pricing for Chatzyn plans.

Can I keep using the WhatsApp Business app on my phone?

On eligible numbers, yes. Meta's Coexistence mode lets the WhatsApp Business app and Chatzyn share one number. A personal WhatsApp account cannot be connected.

Can it handle Instagram messages too?

Yes. Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger chats arrive in the same inbox, and Instagram DM keyword automations can reply to people who message you first.
